Species information

Baloskion tetraphyllum   (Labill.) B.G.Briggs & L.A.S.Johnson

This native groundcover is commonly known as tassel cord rush.

Baloskion tetraphyllum is described as a "monocot" in the Restionaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

There are 2 geographically separated subspecies: Baloskion tetraphyllum subsp. meiostachyum in far north Queensland and discontinuously through coastal Queensland and New South Wales to the Shoalhaven River; B. tetraphyllum subsp. tetraphyllum in the extreme SE of New South Wales at Nadgee, southern Victoria (including the Grampians), SE South Australia at Millicent and Mount Gambier, and Tasmania.(https://profiles.ala.org.au/opus/foa/profile/baloskion%20tetraphyllum) 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
