Species information

Ficus rubiginosa forma rubiginosa     Desf. ex Vent.

This native tree is commonly known as rusty fig.

Ficus rubiginosa forma rubiginosa is described as a "dicot" in the Moraceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

The Queensland Flora Census lists two forms in the Wide Bay district (forma rubiginosa and forma glabrescens). Forma rubiginosa has variously hairy leaves (Figuring out the figs: the Ficus obliqua-Ficus rubiginosa Complex (Moraceae: Urostigma sect. Malvanthera) Australian Systematic Botany 14(1) March 2001). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 3 Fraser Coast localities: Booral, Craignish, Howard.
