Species information

Grevillea banksii     R.Br.

This native tree is commonly known as red-flowered silky-oak.

Grevillea banksii is described as a "dicot" in the Proteaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Also includes a cream-flowered variety which tends to be taller. Red flowered form reported at Howard. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 29 Fraser Coast localities: Aldershot, Beelbi Creek, Boompa, Boonooroo Plains, Booral, Burgowan, Burrum Heads, Burrum River, Burrum Town, Cherwell, Craignish, Duckinwilla, Eli Waters, Howard, Pacific Haven, Point Vernon, St Mary, Sunshine Acres, Susan River, Takura, Talegalla Weir, Tinana, Toogoom, Torquay, Urangan, Urraween, Walliebum, Walligan, Wondunna.
