This native groundcover is commonly known as coastal matrush.
Lomandra elongata is described as a "monocot" in the Laxmanniaceae family.
Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
Leaves narrow, erect, thick and tough. Tip rounded with a single point. Inflorescence unbranched. Flowers in clusters. Very limited distribution in Queensland in coastal south-east Queensland sites. Not recorded in the Fraser Coast region however ID confirmed in Vernon Conservation Park and also reported at Beelbi Creek and Granville.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
